This year, Symbioticon 2022 added a large event space in addition to the traditional hackathon. A FUTURE CANDY world premiere was displayed here: The AVATUNNEL.

- Added value: Visitors are playfully familiarized with virtual reality technology and "metaverse applications". By personalizing their own avatar and a sticker, a special personal connection to the event was created.
In Detail
Symbioticon is the innovation event of the Sparkassen Finance Group. Started as a classic hackathon, it has continuously evolved over 6 years. In keynotes and masterclasses, visitors gain insights into current innovation topics in the field of banking and Web 3.0. A wide variety of exhibits and experiences are set up in an interactive event area.
The organizers’ requirements were clear from the outset: Symbioticon would only showcase the latest of the latest. So it was only logical to develop a completely new product and launch it at the event. The AVATUNNEL combines the creation of your avatar, an insight into the metaverse, and an unforgettable souvenir from the event. All in four simple steps:
Step 1: Taking a photo
The visitor enters the tunnel. A portrait photo is automatically taken of them. This photo is used by software as the basis for creating an avatar (i.e. a virtual image) of the visitor.
Step 2: Personalization
The guest leaves the tunnel. Now on a large touch screen a personal avatar appears. It can be customized: face shape, hairstyle, hair color, and clothing.
Step 3: Metaverse experience
A TV screen and virtual reality goggles are located on the outside of the AVATUNNEL. The guest puts on one of the VR glasses and controls their personal avatar through a “Metaverse application”. They learn how to operate the VR glasses and experience the possibilities of the application.
Step 4: Create a personalized sticker
Meanwhile, a sticker with a portrait shot of the personal avatar is printed. The guest can put the sticker on their lanyard as a personal souvenir from the event.
