Virtual workshop in the metaverse with TZEW
Diving into a new parallel world. The Transfer Zentrum Elbe Weser (TZEW) tested the limits of the metaverse for itself and its customers.
The Challenge.
The task
we faced.
What is the metaverse and how can TZEW put it to use? Will it be possible in future to plan building projects in the metaverse or communicate them with stakeholders?
The Solution.
Was wir daraus
gemacht haben.
Running a workshop in the metaverse in which functions, possibilities and also limits were discussed. The workshop took place not on Teams or Zoom but with avatars in the metaverse. Photorealistic avatars discussed the pros and cons of the metaverse as well as possible applications and use cases for their own customers.
A workshop with a difference: an event in the metaverse is something quite special. At the beginning of the metaverse training, the term metaverse was defined and related technologies were presented. Its derivation from virtual reality (VR) was shown along with its development. The most important stakeholders were discussed and existing use cases from industries and companies were presented. TZEW participants learned about the background of the metaverse, how it fits together and the most important elements and functions within it. Various platforms for entering the metaverse were then presented, including their advantages and disadvantages. There was ample time to clear up questions and address problems. After theory comes practice. Once all participants had been trained in advance in handling the VR headset, everyone dived into a new parallel world. All participants were represented as photorealistic avatars, so everyone found their colleagues as true-to-life avatars. The functions were then tested, such as creating virtual sticky notes for brainstorming, moving around and orienting yourself in a VR world. Participants could create drawings, upload three-dimensional objects and presentations and try out many other functions. The option of walking through virtual portals and exchanging views with unknown avatars in the metaverse was explored as well. A short conclusion from all participants was gathered at the end of the VR training and the next steps were discussed. If this has made you curious and you want to learn more about the metaverse or experience it yourself, visit our metaverse page or contact us directly.
What stuck
in the end.
Actively using the VR headsets meant employees engaged with new technologies interactively. The metaverse training made the trend of a VR world tangible by letting employees interact as their own avatars. That let them gather hands-on experience of the metaverse and form their own opinion of the topic. With that experience they can now advise their customers better and show them new possibilities for collaboration.
