The Challenge.

Where we started.

How can employees be brought closer to the newest technologies? How can employees be inspired by future topics and innovation? How do you motivate employees on the subject of digitalisation?

What we
did.

The Otto Tech Lounge was opened specifically for TECH FLAT. In this room, the TECH FLAT gadgets are permanently available to all employees.

The Otto Group's Tech Lounge was integrated into the group's existing IT infrastructure. In a physical space, internal IT products such as smartphones, laptops and headsets were presented that were available to Otto employees as standard. Employees also had the opportunity to try out forward-looking technologies from FUTURE CANDY and to borrow and test them across the various departments over a period of three months, so they could form their own picture of each technology.

In collaboration with the FUTURE CANDY network, an interactive area within reach of the canteen was redesigned. Many modular elements such as tables and shelves were used to make the best possible use of the space, since the portfolio of internal IT products and the technologies provided by FUTURE CANDY changed regularly. That allowed the Tech Lounge to be used flexibly as both a workshop area and a meeting room with external stakeholders. Location and support for the gadgets played a central role in designing the Tech Lounge.

The Tech Lounge was placed in the main passage to the canteen. That meant employees regularly streamed into the Tech Lounge on their way to or from the lunch break. Support was provided daily between 11:00 and 14:00 by a trained working student who answered questions and demonstrated use cases for the company's own IT products as well as the innovative technologies from FUTURE CANDY.

What it
achieved.

Employees can test the gadgets and take inspiration at any time. Instead of only reading about future topics, they can try them out at first hand.
