EU Parliament – study on the development of digital services
Commissioned by the EU Parliament, a study was published presenting forecasts for digital services over the next one (2021) to ten years (2030) and giving recommendations for the European Parliament with regard to the Digital Services Act.

A study on the development of digital services and the implications for the Digital Services Act
The study analysed eleven trends through to 2030, which produced the following forecasts. In the short term, robots take on simple tasks. 5G enables progress in the industrial internet of things. Seamless payment boosts commerce. In the medium term, individualisation becomes more important, healthcare turns to data and digital talent shapes the world of work. Ecology and sustainability move into focus. In the long term (2030), 6G enables even more connectivity and autonomy. Autonomous vehicles and personalised products become everyday. Sustainability is decisive. From this, the following recommendations for the European Parliament were derived: developing a European cloud, promoting eGovernment, and visionary communication in order to lead the digital transformation and prevent misuse.
