The Challenge.

Where we started.

How can a special customer experience be created with the help of gadgets? How can a broad range of technologies be tested without taking on a high investment risk? How can the bureaucratic, cumbersome route through the internal purchasing department be avoided?

What we
did.

Research and concept development by the FUTURE CANDY experts on technology in retail. Provision of the gadgets within TECH FLAT. Because the gadgets rotate quarterly on a loan basis, the cumbersome route through purchasing is avoided.

More and more technologies will be part of the shopping experience in the supermarket of the future. Today, for example, staff in many supermarkets are already supported by autonomous self-checkout systems. With the "Supermarket of the Future" project, Edeka worked with FUTURE CANDY on the question of how technology can maximise both the customer experience and support for employees. Buying the devices the normal way, meaning internally through the responsible department, has many disadvantages. Not only are you exposed to plenty of bureaucratic hurdles in a group like Edeka. It also leads to a high investment risk, because budget has to be spent without any customer feedback. Nor is it sustainable, since new products are used and possibly disposed of after a short time. TECH FLAT was able to deliver the solution. With TECH FLAT, new gadgets could be presented and tested in the supermarket of the future every quarter. Customers could experience the technological novelties without major effort in time, technology or bureaucracy. Employees benefited from the technology too, as it made their working day easier.

What it
achieved.

Without any research effort, many different technologies can be tested in practice and only rolled out widely once the response is positive. That also lowers the business risk, because only successful gadgets are bought. Plug and play plus tailored applications mean little effort to get started. A new customer experience is created and the store sets itself apart from the rest of the market.
